The first week of April brought along with it the spring shuffle, the time when the place I call home transforms from a warm box to a sprawling garden. This was also the best time to retool the home network. This meant a week of downtime for the main server and a bit less for the database server. In any case, the downtime is over now.
Reduced the energy load the network was placing on the solar array in the process too. Keeping that down is going to be important as the summer rolls in and systems draw more power to keep themselves cool. The fan-on and fan-off temperatures have been raised in an attempt to save energy. If this still means nothing to you I'll simplify. Two servers and a wireless router in less energy than a standard incandescent light bulb without 'Air Conditioning'.
Other than that, the job hunt continues.
