Niagara Cycling

Cycling and other forms of human powered transportation in the Niagara Region have received considerable political interest and the benefits are passed on to ambitious residents.

Open year-round to Cyclists, Pedestrians, and Equestrians along the canal. You may find some people are in a hurry (training or commuting) but most of the time it is slow. Motorized vehicles are strictly prohibited, as far as I've heard this includes electric bikes but does not include mobility carts for the elderly and/or obese. Do not travel by ATV or "Quad" because you can be arrested or fined or both.

The Welland Canal offers a refreshing backdrop, a favourite among eco-tourists and those adventuring around the wine-country. Though you may find more wineries in Niagara on the Lake, there is one intriguing destination right across the canal from the bike trail, you have to go during the day though so that the free ferry is still open unfortunately the ferry has been closed by the City of Thorold. The ferry runs ran at the former site of the Port Robinson Bridge a little hut could take you and your bike across.
